I think after Swenson reads the last pages Angela gave him. He is trying to convince himself that Angela is not writing about him, because all along he thought that her story was about him. Also, because the teacher in Angela's story is not a gentleman and as for him their relationship is different, a bond or likeness he developed for her being a good writer. And he views himself as a respectable person, kind of a gentleman and now his move on a student makes him afraid that he might get categorized differently as some rapist like the one Angela mentions in her story. He is trying to justify to himself that his approach is better. Also, because he is a caring person, he wanted to call Angela after he gets home to show her that she means something, and he had a little respect or is more responsible to call and find out how she was doing as oppose to some young males who just don’t call after a hook up. I'm curious to know if this part will only be their closest encounter and then a resolution or they get more involved and then a resolution.
